The police announced the arrest of a 49-year-old man,Ghanem Rami, who is citizen of both the USA and Jordan, on arms smuggling. The 49-year-old, who was arrested in Aspropyrgos on Tuesday morning, was also wanted in the USA on similar charges, including money laundering.
According to the police, Ghanem Rami was a permanent resident in Egypt and is considered to be one of the greater arms smugglers worldwide and is known for supplying numerous groups in the Middle East, including Hezbollah.
The 49-year-old was under surveillance and was reportedly in Greece to complete the sale of weapons shipment. The deal did not, however, take place and the Greek authorities arrested the man.
