The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke of the need to expedite the “global shift to a climate-friendly, sustainable society” in his address at the UN’s Climate Change Conference in Paris on Monday. According to Mr. Tsipras the agreement in Paris must provide a legally binding framework that will be based on transparency, accountability and compliance by all arties.

The Greek PM further elaborated that the intense natural disasters caused by climate change will affect the more vulnerable social groups, in turn causing new waves of migration and refugees. “Greece, which at this time is experiencing an unprecedented refugee crisis and human despair, gives political priority to prevent climate change displacement risk”, he underlined.
