Minor clashes broke out at the Athens Polytechnic upon arrival of the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who laid a wreath for the victims of the student uprising. Many of those gathered for the 42nd anniversary of the uprising expressed their disapproval of the presence of government officials.

With tension rising, some began chanting slogans while others threw cups of coffee and bottles of water in thee direction of the government officials, which included State Ministers Alekos Flampouraris and Nikos Pappas. Others managed to move the protesters away, causing further tension in the area.

Eventually the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the monument on the university grounds and remained on-site for a few minutes before departing.
