The former Minister of Finances Yanis Varoufakis has caused an uproar in Italy over the fee he received for an interview he gave on the State-owned RAI3 television station. According to Italian media, Mr. Varoufakis received 24,000 euros.

The Corriere Della Sera and La Stampa newspapers underlined in their reports that while Mr. Varoufakis received 24,000 euros for his RAI3 interview, he did not receive payment for appearances in British media. In the La Stampa report Mr. Varoufakis is referred to as a ‘luxury lecturer’.

Meanwhile, Mr. Varoufakis has published a list of his appearances and fees on his website. The former Finance Minister notes that he received 24,000 euros for his appearance on RAI3’s “Che Tempo Che Fa” program on the 27th of September and traveled first class.
