Veteran New Democracy officer Dora Bakoyanni commented that “the people gave Mr. Tsipras a mandate to implement the bailout agreement” upon arrival at her party’s central offices.
Mr. Bakoyanni wished the SYRIZA leader good luck and underlined that the people have given her party the role of the main opposition. She added that her party will assume this role in a united and orderly fashion.
When asked whether the electoral result will prompt a leadership change in the party, Mrs. Bakoyanni responded no.
