Once again the country is faced with the aftereffects of an election campaign. As obvious as it might be to uphold constitutional regulations and deadline, it should be just as obvious that the pro-Europe political forces will make an effort to restrict the consequences and threats of this period.
It is imperative to bring an end at some point to the ongoing guerilla warfare over maintaining the Constitution. The unprecedented procedural delays by the President of Parliament do no justice to anyone, much less her self. Neither the economy, nor society can endure a new round of a divisive conflict, especially in cases of personal projection and confirmation – rather that the major issues that affect us.
After all of the adventures in the past few years and the traumatic consequences on the full spectrum of the political system, it is time they realized that the country needs a greater consensus and less fruitless and above all divisive conflicts. What matters if the people to decide – with maturity and a clear mind – about their future.
An intense yet clear discussion about the next days is a necessary requirement for this. The parties must explain with clarity and honesty how they intend to manage the country’s problems and commitments undertaken towards the Europeans. Without protest and populism, with clear positions that do not allow evasions and delays. A substantive, rather than procedural political battle, so that the people may chose the best solution for the country and themselves.
