The split within SYRIZA and the confusion amongst the party’s parliamentary group are extending the climate of uncertainty in the country. At a time when the government must appear determined in order to complete the negotiation, there is clearly an underground, internal war being fought within the government, which is undermining the country’s smooth course.

The toing-and-froing on the measures included in the second bill that will be submitted in Parliament on Wednesday is obviously a result of the conflict going on within the governing party and the insecurity amongst its leadership, as far as the intentions of its MPs go. There is no room for inter-party games and balances.

After deciding to put an end to the catastrophic course at literally the last moment, the Prime Minister has a duty to now put an end to this paralytic situation. The half words of the government spokesperson that elections are not useful to the country are not enough. The government needs to demonstrate in practice that it wants to complete the agreement that it wants to secure Greece’s place in the euro, in the little time that it has at its disposal.

It is absurd for Ministers to denounce and condemn the agreement while simultaneously being called upon to implement it. Let them realize that this is their only chance if they do not want to be remembered in history as those responsible for an unrestrained catastrophe.

They have divided the Greek enough with their choices. The ideological and political delusions they cultivated have collapsed before the harsh reality. The must not defer their responsibilities and they must address, if they can, the real problems in the economy and society. They have the privilege, after all, for the first time in recent years, to have the tolerance of the opposition.

The people who are worrying about tomorrow and under pressure today do not care about the ideological and political battles fought within SYRIZA. The economy cannot wait for them to decision to implement the commitments that they undertook. Whether they like it or not, they have one last chance to prove that the country’s interests are above any party or personal interest…
