The processes and negotiations of the past few days and hours seem to suggest that a course has been set towards the solution to the Greek drama. Despite the objections of certain officers, the Prime Minister has concluded in a proposal for an agreement with the partners, which reportedly may be accepted, at least as a basis for negotiations.

The Greek House of Parliament is caked today to evaluate at first these proposals and then give the green light to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finances to complete the negotiations. Aside from the justified objections as to how we got to this point, what matters today is to put an end to the uncertainty and insecurity that has been plaguing the country, economy and people.

It is time that everyone assumes their responsibilities; first and foremost the Prime Minister and the government, but also the opposition parties. It is high time that national – rather than partisan – interests prevail, that everyone rise up to the circumstances and contribute their fair share towards securing the agreement the country needs.

However painful the agreement which Parliament is called upon to approve may be, it is preferable over yet another deadlock and the ensuing chaos.

The Greek people, who have patiently endured the dramatic situation of the past few days, have declared that they desire Greece to remain in Europe and the euro.

The government, along with the rest of the political forces, has an obligation to implement this imperative.
