Three Golden Dawn members will stand trial before the Misdemeanor Court of Mesologi on Tuesday over a number of attacks against local Roma gypsies that commenced in August 2012 and went on for about five months.

According to the case file members and fans of the neo-Nazi party under the supervision and with the participation of Golden Dawn MP Kostas Barbarousis carried out beatings, arson attacks and other violent and illegal actions against local Roma gypsies.

An observer from Amnesty International will be present at the trial, while the Greek Helsinki Monitor will handle the legal representation in the civil action.

Anti-racism group KEERFA issued a statement detailing the alleged attacks, which included an assault against a mentally disabled man, and called for anti-racist and anti-fascists groups to support the Roma gypsies in the upcoming trials.
