Thousands have flocked to betting shops to pick their numbers for the upcoming jackpot lottery draw on Thursday, with 17 million euros now at stake after Sunday’s draw for the “Joker” lotto did not produce a winner.

Betting agency OPAP reported that 4,110,983 lottery cards were submitted for Sunday’s draw. The last winning draw was on the 11th of September, with the winner receiving 603,000 euros. The betting shops are expected to be flooded once again for the new draw.

The jackpot record is 19,278,990 euros, which was split between three winners in April 2010. The 19-million-euro jackpot came after 14 unsuccessful draws. Since then there have been 5.5 million euro jackpots in March and November 2012, a 7 million euro jackpot in June 2013 and an 8.2 million euro jackpot in August 2014.
