The deeply antidemocratic perceptions prevailing in SYRIZA and absolutist cynicism of Mr. Tsipras were revealed in all their glory at the TIF over the weekend. It has long been known that the government is trying to control information and silence those voices that do not fall in line. Everything that happened over the weekend was the final fig leaf for those gullible wanting to believe the supposed battles against vested interests, upon which the government invests to establish its control over the media.

With a deeply authoritarian and totalitarian mentality sought to discredit journalists who dared to put them before his responsibilities for the nightmarish landscape that his is attempting to create in the television media. With great arrogance and the Prime Minister attempted to preempt the decision of State Council, by arguing that “this is not possible, not a single chance”. Of course he demonstrated his democratic values by excluding the most popular newspapers from questioning because he obviously can’t take the criticism.

There have been other Prime Ministers in the past that despised criticism and attempted to manipulate the media. Mr. Tsipras however has gone too far with he stance and overall attitude.

With constant lies, legal acrobatics and interventions in justice he is trying to suppress the press. The revealing report in the printed edition of To Vima over the weekend indicating the slew of irregularities in the tender, were they even circumvented their own law, is indicative of their respect of the institutions, the Constitution and ultimately democracy.

However many attempts to punish and target To Vima and journalists who dare criticized, he will sooner or alter realized that Prime Ministers come and go, but the press and the media that do their job will be here to remind him that democracy cannot be sectioned and will not submit to its aspiring saboteurs…
