We are currently going through the annual period of political propaganda, where the government and opposition use the International Fair in Thessaloniki to present their “plan” for the economy and usually to promise better days. Mr. Tsipras is making his preparation alongside the Mediterranean summit, where we will once again hear the wishful list for growth, easing austerity and so forth.

Government sources have suggested that Mr. Tsipras will follow the usual recipty of inverting – and distorting – reality. Since there is no room for favors or even the ‘ransom’ from the license tender to handout, he will dub some of the crumbs as an indication of his major struggle to protect the socially weak.

Only nobody believes him anymore. He declares that pensions will not be slashed, but at the same time the EKAS has been abolished and the supplementary pension annihilated. He promises that growth is on the way, however the economy is stagnating, the NSRF funding and Juncker package are untapped, while businesses and taxpayers are suffering from the tax raid. What can he promise and who will believe him?

Unfortunately for him though, he cannot fool the people anymore. His infamous Thessaloniki program turned out to be a major bubble that had the exact opposite result from what he proclaimed to gather votes. Whatever he says has already been undermined from his political disrepute.

The best for the Prime Minister, as well as the other political leaders, is to soon end with the celebration of political delusions that the TIF has turned into. If they really want to make a fresh start, they can begin by telling the Greek people some truths and set aside the unfulfilled and empty promises, which almost instantly turn out to be false…
