SYRIZA’s invasion of the state mechanism and institutions continues will all sorts of lawful and unlawful means. After Justice and the Media comes Education. After the compulsory adaptation of private education to the standards of public education, now they are affecting the operation of the universities. With a legislative amendment that went unnoticed, without debate, they have included all categories of laboratory personal in the Teaching and Research Staff category.
An attempt had been made to pass this provision, which affects 1,500 to 2,000 people, in the past and it was withdrawn after reactions from all university administrations. Via this provision all evaluation procedures are circumvented and hundreds of people posted to universities are upgraded, while all internal promotion procedures are completely ignored.
This brings to mind the similar actions with the Support Teaching Staff members in the early 1980s, which completely changed the anthropography of universities. Given the Education Minister’s abhorrence of excellence, a new generalized intervention is once against being attempted, while disregarding the university community.
It is clear that SYRIZA is attempting to install its own state in all sections of public life. They have turned Parliament into a Laundromat of extra-institutional decisions, with an industry of amendments that they once denounced and have now adopted as a daily practice. They completely ignore the reactions and legislate as they wish, only caring about controlling the state mechanism and democratic institutions.
This deeply authoritarian approach is dangerous for democracy. They are fooled if they believe that they can carry on unopposed, by seeking to control the media…
