We are unfortunately living in a state that does not respect its obligation, which insists on sadistically burdening its people and trying to make their already difficult daily life even worse. The most recent example, but obviously not the last, was the decision to not automatically offset any tax returns with the ENFIA real estate tax.

While the Finance Minister demands that the people pay the unbearable taxes, threatening with foreclosures and seizing bank accounts, it refuses to carry out a simple and obvious regulation.

It demands from taxpayers who have received a tax return to stand in line at the tax office, to formally declare that they want to offset their obligations, which the appointed employees can either accept or reject! In an age where all information is uploaded on the Taxisnet and at the disposal of the relevant finance agencies, the state – namely the government – insists on troubling the already troubled citizens.

This is not of course the only case. By using bureaucracy as a pretext, the central government and individual services, rather than limit the bureaucracy and burden, are doing the exact opposite. Not only because they are tying to save money, as in the case with the major delays in tax returns, but in any investment activity, by creating all sorts of obstacles.

One would expect from a government that is supposed to care about the people’s interests to at least try to make the everyday life of the people a little better. However, with a sadistic attitude beyond the wage and benefit cuts, beyond the constant tax raids, it is making the management of our misery every harder.

You see Mr. Tsipras and his ministers had other important priorities to address, such as the amusing show with the television license and do not have time to take care of society’s major problems. They think that by offering spectacle the people will forget of the harsh reality within which they are forced to survive…
