Everything that followed the British referendum makes it perfectly clear where a group of populists and political frauds may lead an entire people. The far-right Farage and Boris Johnson the opportunist consciously deceived, as it turns out, the British people and now, faced with their tragic choices, they are murmuring about being unable to fulfill the promises they made.

Unfortunately they cannot follow the example of our own Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and turn the decision for leaving into remaining. They are simply trying to delay having to submit an application to leave the European Union, to gain a little time and div out how to manage the painful consequences of their choice.

Let us not forget that a year ago we experienced what the British people are going through today, with the Prime Minister’ decision for a referendum, which resulted in the imposition of capital controls, the consequences of which we are still paying, on the op of the dramatic deterioration of the economy as a whole.

By using sophisms on democratic legitimacy, politicians who are unable to assume responsibilities about the country’s future, pass on the responsibility to people inadequately informed on complicated issues with emotional or ideological criteria. They only realized the major cost of the choices they were lead to make after voting.

Europe, indeed, has many problems and even more weaknesses. But it is absurd for inadequate politicians to exacerbate them with their own weaknesses and delays. More so when they polarize their people in an effort to overcome personal or political ends.

The Greek society has paid and continues to pay dearly for these divisive and opportunist practices with financial consequences. Britain is facing something similar today, as it feels the threat to its sovereignty with Scotland and Northern Ireland considering seceding.

As it turns out, in the name of democracy, foolish and limited liability leaders may even lead countries not facing crisis and survival problems to uncontrollable situations.
