The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest seasonally adjusted divs for the rate of unemployment in March 2016, which was 24.1%, marking an improvement over the 25.7% rate in March 2015 and 24.2% in February 2016.

In greater detail, the number of employed amounted to 3,623,234, the unemployed 1,153,232 while the total number of inactive people was 3,281,503.

Overall the employed increased by 87,296 compared to March 2015 (+2.5%) and by 1,632 persons compared to February 2016 (negligible change). The unemployed decreased by 68,045 (-5.6%) compared to March 2015 and by 4,609 persons compared to February 2016 (-0.4%).

Finally, Inactive persons –that is, persons that neither worked neither looked for a job – decreased by 60,549 persons (-1.8%) compared to March 2015, and by 192 persons compared to February 2016 (negligible change).
