The Prime Minister decided to make his celebratory speech of the day while the government majority voted in corrective amendments to the omnibus bill they approved a few days ago, in order to complete the much-debated bailout review. PM Tsipras more or less presented a rosy situation to his ministers, as he was addressing the residents of another country.

So while society is already paying the consequences of the painful agreement via tax hikes and cuts, the Prime Minister claims that he succeeded in the review, without backing down from the ‘red lines’ he set. He even claimed that after the review and initiation of talks on the debt, there is a new prospect of recovery, stability and calm ahead.

At a time when the people are struggling to survive, with doctors and healthcare personnel in the streets, PM Tsipras is presenting his own… success story. Basically he is doing what he denounced Samaras for, more so under far worse conditions.

No originality, no sense of self-reflection, but rather a bad copy of old stereotypes designed to deceive the natives once again. We are fighting the everyday struggle, growth with a social approach, rolling up the sleeves and so forth…

Unfortunately for the Prime Minister the people are wising up. The wishful thinking and heroic struggles have overextended their welcome. The promise of hope has turned out to be empty, while the new burdens are putting further pressure on an already suffering society. At least try to save what you can by implementing what you are voting for, so that we do not have another vicious cycle of negotiations in the autumn.
