The offices of Swiss bank UBS in Athens were raided by financial prosecutors on Tuesday, with a list of clients suspected of tax evasion being confiscated for further investigation.

Reports suggest that the raid was carried out in relation to the “North Rhine-Westphalia list”, which contains suspected tax evaders with overseas accounts – similar to the Lagarde list.

The bank offices had been under surveillance and last week an employee was noticed carrying a briefcase with important documents. The police raided her home and those of three other employees who were managing top clients with accounts worth millions.
