Germany’s central tax authority has forwarded the details of 10,588 Swiss bank accounts held by Greek nationals to the Greek Ministry of Finances. The Ministry explained that this data will be passed on to the financial prosecutors and contribute towards the efforts to tackle tax evasion.

According to the Finance Ministry’s statement, the data on the 10,588 accounts relates to transactions in 2006 and 2008. The accounts in 2006 held 3.9 billion Swiss francs, while in 2008 the total sum amounted to 2.9 billion Swiss francs.
