The technical teams that arrived in Lefkada following the recent 6.1 magnitude earthquake have begun inspections and already found that 20 houses are uninhabitable.

The tremors are continuing and the island’s residents are concerned about their property and the possibility of further damages being caused by the imminent change in weather conditions.

On Wednesday morning the teams carried out 120 inspections and found that 34 buildings had no problems, 66 had minor damages and 20 were uninhabitable. Inspections were also carried out at the island’s hospital and faces no problems.

With the post-seismic activity continuing the regional roads leading to Agios Nikitas remain closed as precaution. The Tuesday-morning earthquake has caused landslides and major damages to the island’s road network.

The funerals of two women who died as a result of the earthquake will take place on Thursday.
