New Democracy MP Kyriakos Mitsotakis has blamed provisional party leader Evangelos Meimarakis for the lack of public debate within the party, in a radio interview for SKAI. According to Mr. Mitsotakis “the lack of debate is an affliction in New Democracy, as if the party will not be united the next day if we disagree in public”.

Mr. Mitsotakis estimated that a second round will be necessary in the upcoming party elections, noting that none of the four candidates will receive the necessary 50% of the vote. He also argued that the 28% which his party received in the September elections will lead nowhere and claimed that he appeals to voters of other parties.

Regarding the serious allegations by Yannis Panousis, the ND candidate stated that “between Mr. Panousis and Mr. Tsipras, I believe Mr. Panousis” but was quick to note that it was problematic why the former minister came forward with these allegations at present.
