The Minister of Migration Police Yannis Mouzalas has rejected the possibility of joint Greek-Turkish patrols in the Aegean in order to protect the border, arguing that “they have nothing to offer”. Mr. Mouzalas also told the Alpha radio station that the Coast Guard services of Greece and Turkey had a very good level of cooperation.

According to the Minister, the refugee influx will remain out of control so long as the human traffickers continue to operate. Mr. Mouzalas added that there are many factors to consider, stressing that Europe must expedite its efforts and offer greater assistance, otherwise the situation could become more dramatic.

Finally, the Minister underlined that Greece «will not be used as a concentration camp for refugees or migrants”.
