The Council of State has rejected an appeal launched by Vicky Stamati regarding her bail. As a result, should she be unable to pay the 50,000-euro bail, she will be forced to return to prison to complete her sentence.

Mrs. Stamati was recently released from prison on condition she pays a 50,000 euro bail. This bail was not paid, as she took advantage of a ministerial decision which suspended bail payments until the 31st of October, due to the introduction of capital controls in the summer.

With the ministerial decision not extended though, Mrs. Stamati – who claims to be poor – was forced to make the payment by the 5th of November. Following the State Council decision, she must make the payment within the day.
