Two ships carrying about 3,000 refugees are expected to arrive in Piraeus on Friday, following the nationwide seamen federation’s decision to suspend its recent strike actions.

The Blue Star Patmos ferry boat left Mytilene with 1,400 refugees at 6am, while the Tera Jet catamaran left at 8am with 1,740 refugees for Piraeus. The Blue Star 1 ferry boat will depart at 8pm with an additional 1,430 people.

Meanwhile the Champion Jet is also going to be used to help alleviate pressure on the island, by transferring refugees from Mytilene to Kavala.
