Two groups of football fans from Serbia and Croatia, who visited Greece for the Champions League match between Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb, clashed at the Athens International Airport at noon on Thursday.

According to reports, the fight between the opposing football fans appears to have taken place outside the airport, with seven to eight people said to have been injured. It appears that the group of Serbians had set an ambush for the Croatian fans. The police took over 20 football fans into custody.

In anticipation of possible clashes over the game, the Police detained a number of football fans traveling to Greece for Wednesday’s game in Piraeus.
