The Metropolitan Bishop of Mytilene, Eresos and Plomari Iakovos has revealed that the bodies of refugees are kept in a refrigerated container as there is no room to bury them.

In a Tuesday morning interview on Mega Channel, the Bishop revealed that there are about 20 to 25 bodies that have yet to be buried. With the island’s morgue already full, a special refrigerated container is being used.

According to the Bishop, efforts are made between the municipal authorities and the hospital management to overcome red tape in order to use 2 acres from a 15-acre plot adjacent to the cemetery, for burials.

The Bishop further explained that this plot of land has been donated to the hospital and the legal process to release it may last between two and three years.
