The employees in the tram, metro and electric railway services have announced a work stoppage for Tuesday, between 21:00 and until the end of the services.

According to the statements issued by the employee unions and associations, the work stoppage is in response to the mismanagement and delays in addressing the serious problems faced in their sector. They also criticize the clack of strategic planning in the latest restructure plan that has been adopted by the government.

In their statement, the employees argue that the possible merging of services will cause funding and staff cuts, which are meant to be covered by private contractors. As such, the ‘scale economy’ to emerge, they argue, will be used to pay the international consultant who will be tasked with planning.
