The Thursday meeting between the Minister of Education Nikos Filis and the president of the association of private school owners Charalambos Kyrailidis was carried out in a tense atmosphere.

On his way out of the first meeting between the two, Mr. Kyrailidis told journalists that there was nothing on the horizon. Mr. Filis refused to make any comments or allow any pictures to be taken of the meeting.

This was the first meeting between the two sides, after repeated requests from the association of private school owners and is believed that have been more to “break the ice”, rather than actually debate the controversial VAT rates and alternatives.
