The Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis has announced that about 800 million euros of funding from the NSRF will be paid out to Greece next week.

According to an interview Mr. Dombrovskis gave to the Athens Macedonia News Agency, the funds that will be paid out are earmarked to finance a series of development projects for the 2014-2020 period.

Mr. Dombrovskis also noted that the European Commission’s proposal to change regulations so that European funding is made available quicker for developments projects in Greece will come into effect on Friday the 16th of October.

The regulation change, Mr. Dombrovskis added, means that Greece will save about 2 billion euros by the end of next year – 1.3 billion euros in 2015 and a further 700 million euros in 2016.
