The discussion on the omnibus bill containing a series of prior actions is set to begin in Parliament on Tuesday, after being submitted on Monday. The bill must be ratified by Friday 16 October, so that Greece can collect a two-billion-euro tranche from Europe.
The debate on the omnibus bill begins on Tuesday, with the relevant committees expected to conclude their review by Wednesday. On Thursday the bill will be debated in the Assembly, with a vote expected to take place by Friday evening. In order to expedite the procedure, the relevant standing parliamentary committees have been formed and elected presidents.
A meeting of political leaders – the first since September’s elections – is scheduled for early on Tuesday, however government sources note that no major changes to the process are expected.
