The Alternate Minister for Social Solidarity Theano Fotiou reported that efforts are being made so that the family benefits of about 635,000 beneficiaries are paid out as soon as possible.

Mr. Fotiou told ANT1 that the family benefit payments will be made as soon as the government’s financial staff approves the necessary funds. The Alternate Minister further noted that if the funds are made available before the 16th of October, then the benefits will paid out sooner.

Regarding the government’s ambitious food card program, Mrs. Fotiou announced that it would be extended into 2016, with beneficiaries receiving funds on the 24th of each month. She added that retroactive payments will be made as soon as it is possible.
