The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras responded to the invitation from his Turkish counterpart Ahmed Davutoglu, to both visit Cyprus, that “we must first solve the Cypriot dispute”, according to a statement by Cypriot government spokesperson Nikos Christodoulides.

According to the President of the so-called Turkish-Cypriot state Mustafa Akinci, the Turkish PM proposed the visit to Cyprus to Mr. Tsipras when the two recently met in New York. The two Prime Ministers would meet with Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades and then cross over to the occupied territories to meet with Mr. Akinci.

In his statement Mr. Christodoulides called Turkish authorities to set aside the public statements and media tactics and to prove in practice its publicly-stated desire to provide a solution to Cypriot dispute.
