The Prime Ministers of Greece Alexis Tsipras and Turkey Ahmed Davutoglu met in New York and came to agreement to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in relation to the refugee crisis.

According to the relevant statement, Mr. Tsipras underlined how Greece supports a fair and sustainable solution to the Cypriot dispute, based on UN resolutions and called Turkey to support talks in this direction.

Furthermore the two leaders discussed the prospect of supporting bilateral relations, particulate in the sectors of economy, culture and transports.

Finally, Mr. Tsipras stressed that Greece supports keeping open diplomatic channels between the two countries – via, among others, the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) – while underlining the need to respect international law.
