The Greek national basketball team scored its second victory in the 2015 EuroBasket, after defeating competition hosts Croatia 72-70 in the opening game. Greece defeated FYROM (85-65) in its first game in the competition and faces Georgia next on Tuesday.

Croatia entered the game stronger and managed to take advantage of Greece’s mistakes and problems in the scoring department, however they did not manage to build a major lead over Greece.

The comeback for Greece began in the third quarter, with Printezis, Spanoulis, Bourousis and Sloukas making crucial shots. The Greek team took the lead for the first time in the final half of the fourth quarter. Although the Croatian team tried to fight back, Spanoulis was on top form and lead Greece to its first win.

The top scorer for the Fotis Katsikaris’ squad was Vasilis Spanoulis, who scored 16 points and handed out 6 assists and was instrumental in Greece’s comeback. Yannis Bourousis (10 pts, 5 assists) and Giorgos Printezis (13 points) were among the standout players for Greece.
