The International Monetary Fund has arranged an emergency meeting to discuss the latest developments in Greece, at 21:30 (Greek time) on Thursday.

IMF chief Christine Lagarde will preside over the meeting, while Poul Thomsen will provide updates on the dealings in Brussels and the recent Eurogroup session in Riga.

At the Eurogroup that was held in the Latvian capital, Mr. Thomsen spoke of the need for a ‘debt haircut’, however the European side rejected such a solution.

The European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi has also arrived in Washington, where he is scheduled to meet with Mrs. Lagarde and address an open event of the IMF. It is not clear whether he will attend the emergency session on Greece.
