Thursday is set to be warmest day of the week, with the temperature expected to climb to 34 degrees Celsius in certain areas, well above the average temperature for this time of the year.

In Attica the temperature will climb to 33º, while in Thessaly, eastern parts of Central Greece, Evia and eastern parts of Peloponnesus the temperature will reach 34º. The Cycladic Islands, Crete, Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese will be cooler, with temperatures note expected to go above 29º. Thessaloniki and other northern areas will also have lower temperatures.

A drop in temperature will begin on Thursday afternoon, with northern areas in Greece set to experience some thunderstorms. By Friday morning the temperature will have dropped in southern areas as well, with northerly wind speeds picking up, particularly in the Aegean.

The situation is note expected to change dramatically over the weekend, although a small drop in temperature is likely on Sunday.
