The Alternate Minister of Finances Nantia Valavani revealed that the government is considering increasing the reduced VAT rate that applies to islands on popular island destinations, such as Myconos.
Mrs. Valavani told ANT1 that this would help protect the local economies of remote and isolated islands. She also revealed that there also considerations for VAT increases in tobacco and alcohol, but ruled out any hikes in fuel.
