Two hunger strikers, Dimitris Koufontinas [pictured right] and Giorgos Sofianidis, were briefly transferred from the Domokos prison facility to the hospital in Lamia for necessary health exams.
According to reports, a massive police operation was planned to ensure the safe transfer of the two hunger strikers, who returned to their cells in Domokos later in the evening on Wednesday.
The main demands of the hunger strikers are the abolition of the controversial “Type C” prison facilities and the release of Savvas Xiros [pictured left], who suffers from serious health issues.
