The president and CEO of the public power company DEI Arthouros Zervos has resigned from his post, after he was referred to a trial by the Appeal Council. He will submit his resignation in writing to the Minister of Productive Reconstruction Panagiotis Lafazanis on Thursday morning, who will reportedly accept it.

Mr. Zervos is accused of approving illegal wage raises for 19 DEI employees between 2010 and 2012. At the time that these wage increases were given out, there was a law in force which set a cap of 5,900 euros on the monthly wages of employees in public enterprises.

As such, the Appeal Council referred Mr. Zervos to trial on breach of faith charges against the State-owned electricity company, by circumventing the legislation in force.
