The government is preparing a regulation to address the problem of outstanding debts, which is to be included in the humanitarian crisis bill.

Should a taxpayer pay off his initial debts in full, then any surcharges (such as late fees) will be written off. This regulation is independent of the bill which will allow taxpayers to pay their debts in 100 installments.

According to the Alternation Minister of Finances Nantia Valavani, who spoke to Mega Channel on Wednesday morning, this regulation will apply only until the end of March.

Mrs. Valavani explained that there will also be a provision for debtors unable to pay their debts in full. Debtors will be encouraged to pay what they can of their initial debt and the proportionate surcharges will be written off. The Alt. Minister further explained that in the settlement for 100 installments, only 30% of surcharges will be written off.
