After the short-lived alliance with SYRIZA fell through last week, the Democratic Left announced that it will cooperate with the Greens party in the upcoming elections on the 25th of January.

The decision came after the central committee debated at the party’s Standing Conference. The details of the alliance will be published after the two parties have completed talks.

The president of the Democratic Left Fotis Kouvelis [pictured] commented that the alliance, which is tentatively called “Greens-Democratic Left” will aim to affect a political change in Greece with stability and responsibility.

Meanwhile three DIMAR MPs have declared that they will not run in the upcoming elections – Asimina Xirotiri, Yannis Panousis and Giorgos Kyritsis. The only definite candidates are Maria Giannakaki and Nikos Tsoukalis, as Maria Repousi, Thomas Psyrras and Dimitris Anagnostakis have not yet decided.
