The cold front that descended upon Greece shortly before the end of December is expected to carry on at least until Friday, with meteorologists expecting snowfall in Crete and heavy storms in the north Aegean.

Frost was reported in mainland Greece, with areas in central and northern parts of the country being particularly affected. In West Macedonia temperatures will range from -18 to 2 degrees, in Central Greece from -8 to 5 degrees, while in the Dodecanese temperatures will be between 7 and 13 degrees.

The winds in the Aegean Sea will be rather strong, measuring between 30 and 40 knots, while in the Ionian Sea they will be milder and not expected to exceed 15-20 knots.

In Attica the temperature will reach a maximum of 7 degrees on Friday, with northern and mountainous areas expected to see some snowfall. Winds may be strong, between 50 and 70 Km/h, but conditions are expected to gradually improve. The weather in Thessaloniki is sunnier and the winds are milder, however temperatures are just 3 degrees above freezing.
