The weather in Greece will take a turn for the worse on Friday, with western part of the country expecting to see the heaviest rainfall and storms.

The winter weather conditions will gradually spread throughout the country on Friday, affecting west and central Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece (including Attica) Evia, Peloponnesus, Crete, the Sporades and the Cyclades in the Aegean.

On Saturday there will be thunderstorms and extensive rainfall all over the country, which will gradually grow weaker in western and continental parts of the country.

The harsh weather conditions will persist in eastern parts of Macedonia, Thrace, the Dodecanese and other islands in the eastern parts of the Aegean Sea until midday on Sunday.

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection has informed local state and municipal authorities to take necessary precautions in order to limit the impact of the intense weather conditions.
