The seaquake occured on Monday, 28 March 2005, with a magnitude of 8.7 on the Richter-scale, killing around 1,000 people, according to unofficial figures so far. Ταρακουνήθηκαν πολλές περιοχές της Ηλείας και της Αχαΐας. Σύμφωνα με το Γεωδυναμικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών, το μέγεθος του σεισμού ήταν 3,9 Ρίχτερ.
Σεισμός έγινε αισθητός στις 9 το βράδυ της Πέμπτης σε πολλές περιοχές της Ηλείας και της Αχαΐας.
Σύμφωνα το Γεωδυναμικό Ινστιτούτο του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών, ο σεισμός είχε μέγεθος 3,9 Ρίχτερ και το επίκεντρό του εντοπίζεται στην βορειοανατολική Ηλεία.
Μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχουν αναφερθεί ζημιές ή άλλα προβλήματα.
