After defeating Senegal, the Philippines and Puerto Rico, it was time for Croatia to become Greece’s latest “victim” in the FIBA World Cup in Spain (76-65). Greece scored its forth consecutive win in the competition and is now preparing for the final Group stage game against Argentina on Thursday.

The Greek team dominated the game thanks to its impressive defensive and creative game (23 assists), with Houston Rockets’ Kostas Papanikolaou, Real Madrid’s Yannis Bourousis and Unics Kazan’s Kostas Kaimakoglou standing out for Greece, while the Brooklyn Nets’ Bojan Bogdanonic lead the Croatian team.

Croatia managed to keep the score close in the first quarter (16-14), thanks to Lafayette and Simon. Greece upped the ante in the second quarter though, with Bourousis dominating in the low post, while Zisis and Kaimakoglou scored critical three-pointers, resulting in a 13-point lead (36-23).

In the second half Greece carried on along the same lines and managed to increase the difference to 19 points. Fotis Katsikaris however rotated his team and due to some bad choices from the three-point line (3/17), the Croatians managed to bring the difference down to keep the score close (51-39).

In the final quarter Ian Vougioukas and Yannis Antetokounmpo took the game over to the key and low-post and quickly increased the difference to 15 points. The Croatian team was unable to keep up with the pace, resulting in a 76-65 victory for Greece.
