The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos have arranged to meet with the Minister of Finances Gikas Hardouvelis at 7:30pm on Wednesday, a day before the critical vote in Parliament for the privatization of DEI.

The meeting with the Finance Minister will come after meetings with the European Support Mechanism (ESM) chief Klaus Regling and Mario Monti; the Greek government has proposed that Mr. Monti act as a link between the European Council and Commission regarding the banking union.

Mr. Regling, who is in Athens in order to deliver a speech at an Economist conference, has long argued that the Greek debt is sustainable and is considered a valuable ally by the coalition government.

The Prime Minister has also arranged to meet with Vladimir Yakunin, the president of the Russian Railway company, in order to discuss the possibility of investing in OSE.
