The Ministry of Growth is making the final changes to its decree regarding the operation of stores on Sundays, which is one of the necessary six prior actions in order for Greece to collect a one-billion-euro loan installment.

Sources from the Ministry claim that stores will operate on all Sundays in the years in the historic city centers of Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as the tourist areas in Pikermi, Rafina, Halkidiki, Rhodes, Kos, Syros, Myconos and Santorini.

The government will review the measure in spring 2015 and should the results be positive, there are thoughts of expanding it to the rest of the country. There have been serious reservations about the measure, with 96% of the traders association of Thessaloniki voting against it in a recent vote.
