The nationwide pharmacy union has responded to the Ministry of Health’s announcement regarding profit margins, calling it “a tactic of abruptly announcing decisions that have already been made regarding the dissolution of the pharmaceutical sector”.

Furthermore the union stressed that it cannot bear the brunt of funding the pharmaceutical needs of the healthcare system, working overtime without pay, providing free primary healthcare services against EU legislation and not collecting money owed from EOPYY dating back to 2011.

The union president Kyriakos Theodosiadis told SKAI that “we lose, the pharmaceutical industry wins and there is no benefit for the customer or the State”. An emergency meeting has been called for Saturday the 5th of July, in order to decide upon the course of action to pursue.
