The Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Yannis Maniatis (pictured) appeared on SKAI on Thursday morning to stress that the controversial plans to privatize DEI will not result in a price hike for customers.
Additionally, Mr. Maniatis argued that customers will benefit from the privatization and cited the Italian example, where the state energy company quadrupled its revenue since being privatized 15 years ago.
Despite the government’s resolve on the matter though, PASOK MP Michalis Kassis expressed his doubts about the draft bill on Mega Channel, pointing out that his party’s proposals have not been included.
Mr. Kassis also expressed his dismay at such a critical bill being discussed during the summer sessions of Parliament, rather than during the Assembly.
