The Greek chapter of the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has announced that it will participate in the 2014 Athens Marathon for the third year running and has called for people to support the Runners Without Borders’ cause.

As with last year, the MSF’s “Runners Without Borders” team will be running for the victims of humanitarian crises all over the world and those in need. About 1,060 people joined the MSF’s team last year. The main motto for this year’s race is that “every kilometer counts”.

Popular musician Marietta Fafouti commented that “running with hundreds of people for the exact same reasons – the pain of someone else – is one of the most emotional experiences once could have, because only then you realize that you are not alone. And that is hope”.

Anyone interested in signing up with the MSF’s team may do so by the visiting the NGO’s offices (15, Xenias St., Athens, between 9am and 5pm – tel: 210-5200-500) or their website, by the 29th of August. The 2014 Athens Marathon will take place on the 9th of November.
